Breast Health and Thermography
03/31/2008
Breast Health and Thermography Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging is an FDA-approved, NON invasive, NON radiation diagnostic technique that detects inflammation at its earliest stages. Inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury and infection, manifesting itself through increases in both localized blood supply and localized temperature. DITI detects internal and external localized temperature changes through infrared light emitted from your skin’s surface. During a DITI exam, the thermographic camera “captures” this light, instantly producing a digital image of your thermal patterns. Everyone’s thermal patterns are unique. This series of DITI breast scans starts with a baseline image. Increasing redness in the right breast shows the thermal patterns of cancer cell progression. DITI is not a replacement for mammography, which works better in detecting later stage cancer. DITI can spot abnormal thermal activity years before a palpable lump can be detected through mammography or self breast exam. DITI is more sensitive than mammography in younger women (30-50) whose breast tissue is denser and therefore difficult to “read”. DITI benefits women of all ages who, for many reasons, are unable to undergo routine mammography. DITI examination is quick and painless. It is non-invasive, provides no radiation, there is no contact with the body and it is F.D.A. approved. The first session provides a baseline reading of your “thermal signature”. A subsequent session assures that the patterns remain unchanged. Picture Your Health™ is coming to LifeTime Health Center to provide DITI to local residents. Please contact Mary Ruof at 512-330-0266 for scheduling information. The first available appointments will be on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.
